GenerikB ( a youtuber who's currently doing a Lets Play) has a huge raft around 7x6 and it has flipped a few times. so it would take Alot of bases to make it unflippable. And a side note, the bigger the raft is, it will be harder to steer and turn. A little tip. I usually build in a way that I can place items in the middle of it without them falling during the trip.
