Jan 3, 2024 · Marguerit Maida was introduced into the universe of Subnautica as a hired mercenary tasked with safeguarding the Degasi and its crew from the relentless threats of pirate raids. Being the sole mercenary, it sets a tone for the character, portraying her as a tough and hard-to-beat individual. My guess is that constant contact with the water (which was full of trace amounts of Enzyme 42) is what kept Marguerit and Ryley alive for so long. Leaving the water seems to result in the virus killing people.
