Mar 16, 2021 · Surprise twins at 20 week scan. What a wild ride the last 12 hours have been! I went into our first ultrasound this morning just hoping to see a healthy active baby with a strong heartbeat and the tech found 2 babies I hadn’t had a scan prior to that, and the Doppler my dr had used only detected one baby. Just WILD. Twins on both sides of the family doesn't really matter, twins is only based on your side of the family, but having that genetic factor does increase your chances by a bit. We've defintly had people here who found out they were having twins in later ultrasounds, but generally they catch it during the first ultrasound.only one sac. if there's a possibility of twins they would share a sac and one may just be too small or hidden. but you definitely only have the one sac.
