Jan 16, 2008 · getrag 260 fill and drain plug sizes. im at work right now and forgot to bring the bentley. im going to change my tranny fluid and cant remmeber what size it is. i searched the forums for about 15 min and couldnt find anything. 17mm allen. I bought one at Sears for $8. Took off the pressure plate, then re-aligned the clutch and the tranny slid in like butter. Hooked up the shift linkage and driveshaft. Just for people's future information, I used a Getrag 260 on the M50 with the e36 Dual Mass Flywheel, e36 clutch kit and pressure plate, e36 throwout and pilot bearings. I had to use the e30 slave cylinder.i) 260.0.1270.90 is on the side of the ‘eta’ trans. ii) shifter mounting about the output flange is only 2xM10 holes for the 84,85,86 style plate mount shifter. iii) deep bellhousing : Slave cylinder mounting flange = 6 7/8. iv) 2 drilled holes for crank position sensors. v) smaller output flange.Getrag 260 won't stopping leaking. 10-29-2015, 05:20 AM. Any thoughts on what could be causing the trans to continue to leak after both the rear seal and selector seals have been replaced with OEM? I can access 4.6 Ford engines, 5.0 Coyotes, 4.8 and 5.3 LSX swaps.
Mar 21, 2011 · getrag 260/5 vs 260/6. I understand that the getrag 260/5 is for the m20b25 and the getrag 260/6 is for the m30b35.I have a 90 m20 e34 and was wondering if a getrag 260/6 would fit. The 260's gearing is great with the 3.91. Lots of pickup in 1-3 gears, good gas mileage in 4-5. Make sure you have the right size/year. The larger m20 output flange uses the the same part numberGetrag 265 w/removable bellhousing is well known as the strongest transmission of that era. It came on the '82 528e, '85 535/635, and e30 m3. The 260/5 (528e other than '82, 533/633) is the weakest of the transmissions (tho still good for 200k miles) and the 260/6 is supposedly much improved over the 260/5.
Jun 7, 2010 · Been searching but i can't find it so i'll ask. I'm using a getrag 260 with my m50 and i want to replace the rear main seal and the pilot bearing while the engine is out. I read somwhere that you have to use a different pilot bearing, is that true? oR i can i just use the one out of an e36? I'm talking about the tiny bearing in the back of the ... 3rd 1.67:1. 4th 1.24:1. 5th 1.0:1. R 3.9:1. The 240 has a shorter 1-3rd gear by a small bit. It was designed to help give the M42 some "get up and go" since it lacked the liters for low end torque. So if you want the added acceleration, go for it. But with the 4.10, the 260 is probably a better choice.
